Work With Us - Sustainable Solutions to Deadstock, Returns and Surplus Stock

At Green Heart Collective we hate waste and we hate waste going to landfill or incineration even more! We can offer a solution to businesses and other organisations to help reduce the mountains of waste that goes to landfill in the UK.

We can help businesses shift bad stock, clear old stock, customer returns, samples, production failures and raw materials. Green Heart Collective collects and repurposes products to give them a new life rather than heading for landfill.

Our specialist areas are fashion, books and fitness products, however we have links across the North East and we may be able to put you in touch with others working in different product categories.

How does it work?

Drop us email or give us a call, so we can explore what is possible.

Typically, we look at a samples or images and come back to you with suggestions and an action plan on possible next steps.

This can involve resale, repurposing, upcycling or working with local charities who have clients with specific needs that can be met

Examples of what we have done

Active Wear and Fitness Products - We work with an international health and wellbeing brand with their bad returns, damages and redundant stock. We arrange collection from their warehouse at no cost and then find new homes for the items. Some can be sold online or through our shop. Other items have been donated to groups who can use in delivering services to those who are disadvantaged. Some items have been upcycled or repurposed to enable them to have a second life.

Kids Scooters - We recently worked with Micro Scooters, Gateshead Council, Suez and Sustrans on refurbishing scooters for use in local schools to provide active travel options for primary age children. Scooters came from post-consumer waste rescued from landfill, others came as product returns needing repairs and checking. Working together in a project led by Sustrans over 150 scooters were made available to local schools and 25 were sold to help cover the costs of the project.

Men’s Clothing - We worked with a niche Gateshead-based street brand that had a loyal following and strong business to business and business to customer channels. With a small team focused on servicing bigger customers, they had no route for dealing with bad returns. Working with us, we have been able to clear the redundant stock and we have found a variety of ways of moving the stock on through some sales and some donation channels. Suddenly their waste to landfill was replaced by a sustainable, feel-good story that cost them nothing.

Food waste - Following a business liquidation, we identified 6 tonnes of food that was past its best before date and headed for landfill. We worked quickly with 20+ local organisations to distribute to community projects, food banks, community cafes etc so that food wasn’t wasted. We are partners in the Gateshead Food Partnership actively promoting solutions to preventing food waste.

Andy Redfern, co-founder of Green Heart Collective said: “For hard-working local business owners it’s tough when non-saleable goods are returned as the time involved in fixing them can often represent more than the value of what was returned. By using our specialist service, we can take the pressure off the business and prevent things from going to landfill.”
